Summary

The touch gauge is the crescent bar on the bottom corners of the screen. When the bar is full, you can use "touch" whenever you want by pressing the touch button during different situations. After using touch, it only takes a couple of seconds before it completely recharges and you can use touch again. There are 5 different types of touch techniques that you can use during a fight.

Touch Types

Normal Touch

A normal touch is performed at neutral.

This version has a long period of recovery, but your partner will receive the ability of the exiting character for a short period of time. This can be very useful when you have a free moment. It takes roughly 3 seconds for the touch gauge to refill after a normal touch, and it removes roughly 50% of the current break limit.

Upon normal touch, all "flashing" health will be restored instantly, similar to red health in Capcom tag fighters.

Attack Touch

An attack touch is performed when you are in the middle of an attack.

Attack touch can be used to created longer and more damaging combos with both of your characters. Also, the attack that your partner does when entering the stage is an overhead attack. So you can also use this while your opponent is defending for a surprise attack. It takes roughly 6 seconds for the touch gauge to refill after an attack touch, and it removes roughly 25% of the current break limit.

Attack touching applies a flat rate to your combo scaling, reducing damage to roughly 80%.

Guard Touch

Gard touch.jpg

Guard touches are done while your current character is blocking. It requires 1 bar from your partner's SP gauge.

A Guard Touch will cause your opponent to stagger while you switch places with your partner. Letting yourself become guard broken is very dangerous, so you can make use of these to stop your opponents rushdown and reestablish neutral ground. It takes roughly 9 seconds for the touch gauge to refill after a guard touch, and it removes roughly 50% of the current break limit.

In patch x.xx, Guard touch was split to be two different touches--Normal guard touch and Knock-back Guard Touch. To perform the stronger knock-back version of Guard touch, block an attack, press forward while blocking and press the touch button. If done successfully, the opponent will flash red as they are knocked back. Attacking the opponent during the stun frames of the stronger knock-back applies a flat rate to your damage scaling, reducing damage to roughly 70%.

Damage Touch

You can use damage touch while you're receiving damage. This costs 2 bars from your partner's SP gauge.

Damage touch will blow your opponent away from your with a burst like animation, then switch your partner in. This could come in handy when you feel that you might be stunned soon. Note that this will not work against projectile attacks. It takes roughly 15 seconds for the touch gauge to refill after a damage touch, and it removes roughly 50% of the current break limit.

Assault Touch

Assult touch.jpg

Assault touch is performed with 236D and requires 2 bars from your partner's SP gauge.

Assault touch will cause your character to perform a full screen rush towards the opponent; you will have full body invincibility during this time. On hit, you will blow your opponent away and then switch with your partner. You can do this to punish almost any technique from a distance and force a close range battle. It takes roughly 15 seconds for the touch gauge to refill after an assault touch, and it removes roughly 50% of the current break limit.

In later versions, the entering character will receive the ability of the exiting character for a short period of time.
